own real Cyprian/Augustine Nocturn 2-3 content, collect reused from
All Saints via cross-id propers), St. Albert the Great (11-15),
St. Gertrude (11-16), St. Felix of Valois (11-20). All Souls' Day
(11-02) deliberately skipped -- a Requiem office, not a normal
saint's office, a genuine mechanism gap.
Several new fixed-date Duplex+ saints displaced existing test
fixtures that had assumed particular dates were clean/ferial/
plain-Sunday: prime.test.ts's MONDAY constant, weekday.test.ts's
clean-Sunday case, and day-label.test.ts's post-Epiphany-overflow
and open-octave-day cases. Fixed by finding genuinely clean
alternate dates/years, never by weakening assertions.

"clean, empty Saturday" fixture used by three tests for Marian
Saturday/Lauds-psalmody-override behavior; moved all three to 2026-07-04,
verified genuinely free of any sanctoral entry (not even a commemorated
Simplex).

exclusion was never a real rule. Sep 15 (day 8 of the Nativity's own
octave) is now also the Seven Sorrows' own fixed day (Duplex II

secondary saints" case accordingly, splitting it into the still-valid

- august-sanctoral.test.ts: Aug 22 now correctly shows the Immaculate

- day-label.test.ts: the two octave-priority tests pinned to Aug 17
(now St. Hyacinth's own day) moved their "day 8 alone" case to All

liturgical feast, per the reference engine's Sancti/07-03.txt, is July
3) with no saints/st-leo-ii.yml ever authored for it -- a wrong-date
stub, same class of artifact as the pre-existing St. Apollinaris
wrong-date bug already documented in july-sanctoral.test.ts. Removed
the stale June 28 entry now that he's correctly authored on July 3.
Two day-label tests pinned to Trinity-Sunday-relative dates that now
collide with new fixed feasts (Jul 6: Octave Day of Ss. Peter and Paul)
were moved to collision-free years/dates, and the July stub test
covering "pure octave-continuation days" was updated to a date (July 4)
that's still genuinely unmapped, since most of that range turned out to
have real content after all.

St. John Damascene is the first common-of-a-confessor-doctor saint;
his own Commune/C5a points its own Benedictus antiphon back at C4a's,
so he reuses the already-authored
benedictus-antiphon-common-of-a-confessor-bishop.yml directly rather
than duplicating it.

Exaltation of the Holy Cross (Sep 14), and Dedication of the Basilica of
the Most Holy Savior (Nov 9, the Lateran) were all excluded under the
same stale "fixed feast of the Lord, not modeled" note that turned out
wrong for Our Lady of the Snows. All four have real, complete content in
the reference engine. Presentation of the BVM (Nov 21) was excluded

- finding-of-the-holy-cross: fully proprium, own collect/antiphon/Matins

Previously excluded entirely under a stale "fixed BVM feasts aren't
modeled" note -- wrong: this app already models three other fixed BVM
feasts (assumption, immaculate-conception, nativity-bvm), and this one
has real, complete content too. Sancti/08-05.txt's untagged rank block
gives her Duplex Majus with real Nocturn 2/3 content (the
miraculous-snowfall founding legend of St. Mary Major); SanctiM/08-05.txt
confirms she's on the Monastic 1617 track too, reslicing the same
Lectio4-6.
Unlike the other three BVM feasts, she has no proper collect or
Benedictus antiphon of her own (her Rule says "ex C11" -- Common of
Feasts of the BVM) -- collect-c11.yml and
benedictus-antiphon-common-of-the-bvm.yml are real, reusable Common
templates, wired via collectCommon/benedictusCommon like any other
Common-only saint, not a private per-saint duplicate.
Live-checked via direct resolution: she wins outright on 2026-08-05 and
2027-08-05, with antiphon, collect, and Matins reading all resolving

Today (Aug 12, within St. Lawrence's octave) was resolving as a plain
ferial day: St. Clare wasn't modeled in the calendar at all, and even
once an octave commemoration exists, getDayLabel only ever looked for a
sanctoral commemoration, never an octave one, so the label fell all the
way through to the generic ordinal week label.
Adds St. Clare (Simplex under Monastic 1617, correctly losing to
Lawrence's octave and only commemorated -- live-verified against three
clean years). Extends getDayLabel to show the active octave itself as
the day's primary identity when nothing else has won outright (e.g.
"3rd Day within the Octave of St. Lawrence, Martyr -- St. Clare,
Virgin"), matching what the live reference engine actually titles these
days, rather than falling back to an anonymous ordinal week label.
Also fixes a regression this surfaced: Trinity Sunday is technically
also day 8 of Pentecost's own octave, and the naive octave-first check
was shadowing its own anchor-day name ("8th Day within the Octave of
Pentecost" instead of "Trinity Sunday"). A season's own named anchor day
now always outranks an active octave label.

Confirmed against the raw [Officium] file directly: Jan 14 is Hilary
(Latin/Sancti/01-14.txt), Jan 23 is St. Raymond of Peñafort
(Latin/Sancti/01-23.txt) -- not Hilary at all. The original Jan-23
placement wasn't fabricated, just misled by its own source: 2029 is a
real year where Jan 14 falls on a Sunday and every day through the
22nd is already occupied by another feast, so Hilary genuinely
transfers all the way to the 23rd that one year -- the app had
mistaken that transfer-year artifact for his real, fixed date.
His collect text is unaffected (a feast's collect doesn't change based
on which day it's said), re-confirmed identical on his real date.
Benedictus antiphon pulled fresh, completing January's antiphon pass
(9/9).

recorded St. Apollinaris under July 24 based on a year where he'd
actually transferred there (his true date, the 23rd, was a Sunday that
year) — cross-checking against the raw calendar text file
(1570.txt) caught it before it went in. His real date is the 23rd, with
St. Liborius as his (permanently unwinnable) secondary; July 24 is
instead the Vigil of St. James with St. Christina as its own secondary.

Two real methodological findings this month:
- St. Mark (Apr 25, Duplex II. classis) directly confirms the
privileged-feria-major behavior from the previous fix: he only ever
gets commemorated within the Easter Octave, never wins there.
- St. Robert/St. Catherine of Siena (Apr 29) is a genuine, year-stable
monastic-calendar reassignment — this app's own base Latin source data
files that date's Roman-calendar content under a different saint (Peter
Martyr) entirely, which a naive raw-file lookup by MM-DD would have
missed; the live per-date query resolved it correctly regardless, and
is what these records are actually built from. Worth remembering for
future months.

plus one concrete data point: St. Anthony Abbot (plain Duplex) was found
outright winning against an ordinary Sunday in the real Monastic 1617
engine, which the old duplex-1-classis-only threshold got wrong.

(vigil behaves like simplex there) and "which of two saints wins a
landing-day collision" (vigil beats simplex, loses to semiduplex).
- LiturgicalDay.occurring (a flat OccurringFeast[] that could only ever
express a losing *sanctoral* candidate) is replaced by `winner:
DayWinner` + `commemorations: Commemoration[]` — a discriminated list
that can hold the temporal day itself, one or more sanctoral entries, or
(not built yet, but the shape already accommodates it) a future octave
kind.
- commemorations.ts: ordinary Sundays let Duplex+ win outright (Sunday
commemorated in return), Semiduplex/Vigil transfer elsewhere (too
substantial a feast to cheapen with a bare commemoration), Simplex stays
and is commemorated. Privileged Sundays never displace; Duplex-majus+
commemorated, everything else transfers.
- collision.ts (new): resolves two sanctoral candidates wanting the same
day (a transfer landing on an already-occupied day, or two native
saints sharing a date) — duplex > semiduplex > vigil > simplex, loser
always commemorated, ties favor the native occupant.
- temporal-id.ts (new): maps any date to one of the 52 real Sunday-collect
ids from the previous commit, so a temporal winner/commemoration can
actually be looked up, not just labeled "temporal" in the abstract.
- index.ts's resolveDay orchestrates all of it, including the actual
Monday/Saturday transfer mechanism. Landing on a privileged feria (the
concrete case: Holy Week, right after Palm Sunday) is explicitly
deferred rather than guessed at — it needs its own Easter-keyed lookup
table, the same way the reference engine handles it.
Added the Vigil of St. Lawrence (Aug 9) as real content specifically to
exercise the backward-transfer rule end-to-end: Aug 9, 2026 is a Sunday,
so the vigil transfers cleanly back to Saturday, verified by a new
integration test alongside the unit-level rule and collision tests.
Replaces the FeastRank placeholder with a real ordered FeastClass (the old
pre-1955 six-level scale) and a new TemporalCategory (privileged/ordinary
Sunday/feria). calendar/commemorations.ts's decideOccurrence encodes the
actual precedence rules as explicit, commented branches per category
rather than the reference engine's own opaque numeric weights — this app
targets one ruleset, so the readability trade-off is worth it. Category
membership (data/calendar/temporal-categories.yml) is a best-effort
reconstruction of the pre-1955 tradition, not sourced from a primary text;
expect corrections.
calendar/feasts.ts resolves real sanctoral candidates, and resolveDay()
wires it all together — occurring/temporalCategory are no longer stubs.
isDoubleOrHigher (hours/antiphon.ts) is now a real comparison instead of
a hardcoded false.
Seeded 7 real saints/feasts, each verified directly against Divinum
Officium's own rank data (not reconstructed from memory) as a small,
growable start: St. Lawrence, the Assumption, St. Augustine, the Nativity
of the BVM, St. Michael, All Saints, the Immaculate Conception.
Client-side-first PWA (Vite/TS, no backend) per the approved plan: day-
navigable shell listing all 8 hours, Prime fully resolves via the
calendar -> psalter -> ordo pipeline, the other 7 hours are registered
but flagged not-implemented. Sanctoral/temporal calendar data uses a
day -> id indirection layer (saints, easter-offsets, fixed-date-calendar)
so reassigning a feast to a different day is a data edit, not a code
change. Docker (Caddy-serving-static) + Gitea CI workflow scaffolded to
match the eec/drip/bookshop operational pattern.
