Author missing Matins Gospel pericopes across nocturn-readings store
~110 of 355 nocturn-readings files had a patristic homily with no
paired Gospel-pericope text -- the homily discussing a Gospel that was
never itself transcribed into the file. Closed in two waves (the first
pass's source-string regex missed many real cases where the citation
lived only in a header comment or wasn't named at all), each entry
sourced from divinum-officium-reference's own Missale files (following
Sancti/Commune redirects where a feast reuses another's Gospel) and
verified per file rather than assumed -- several candidates turned out
to be genuine Nocturn 2 content or Common-of-saints cross-references
with no proper Gospel of their own, correctly left untouched.

Includes both live-reported gaps: St. Joseph of Cupertino's own Bk. II
Homily 38 (Matt 22:1-14) and the Vigil of St. Matthew's Ambrose homily
(Luke 5:27-32).

TODO.md logs the closed item plus a new, distinct follow-up: a handful
of files with no Nocturn 3 content authored at all (not just an
unpaired Gospel), found along the way.

npm test (2029 passed) and tsc --noEmit both pass.

# Matins Nocturn 2-3 readings for St. Martin I, Pope, Martyr (Nov 14
# on this app's own calendar) — an off-date sourcing case like St.
# Paul the Hermit in the pre-1955 pass (memory vu-matins-pre1955-saints):
# the general Tridentine calendar keeps Martin I on Nov 12 instead
# (`Sancti/11-12.txt`), the date this app's own calendar uses for St.
# Emilian. No genuine SanctiM match at either date: the only SanctiM
# file at Nov 12, `SanctiM/11-12M.txt`, is St. Emilian's own
# (Common-only) file, and the file at Nov 14, `SanctiM/11-14M.txt`,
# bases `@SanctiM/11-02` (All Souls, unrelated) — a missed
# pre-1955-pool candidate rather than a genuine SanctiM case (see
# memory vu-matins-sanctim-saints).
# web/www/horas/Latin/Sancti/11-12.txt, English/Sancti/11-12.txt.
#
# Nocturn 2: Lectio4-6 combined into one reading, one continuous vita.
# Nocturn 3: Lectio7's Gospel citation (Matt 16:13-19) was a bare
# incipit ("Et réliqua") with no full pericope text given; the full
# pericope is now authored too (isGospel: true, immediately before the
# homily) — sourced from the Missale's own Common of a Pope/Martyr
# Gospel (`web/www/missa/Latin/Commune/Coronatio.txt`'s `[Evangelium]`,
# English/Commune/Coronatio.txt), the same text already used for this
# day in `chair-of-st-peter-at-rome.yml` (2026-09-05 update). The
# homily portion remains Pope St. Leo the Great's sermon, combined with
# Lectio8-9 as one continuous excerpt. No responsory given for either
# reading.

Martinus, Tuderti in Umbria natus, inítio pontificatus, et litteris et legatiónibus
missis operam dedit, ut Paulum Constantinopolitanum patriarcham a nefaria hæresi ad
catholicæ fidei veritátem revocaret. Qui, Constante imperatóre hæretico fretus, eo
améntiæ progréssus fuerat, ut Sedis apostolicæ legatos varie in insulas relegarit. Quo
ejus scélere commótus Pontifex, coacto Romæ concílio centum quinque episcopórum, eum
condemnávit.
Quæ causa fuit Constanti mitténdi in Italiam Olympium exarchum, ut Martinum
Pontificem interficiéndum aut ad se perducéndum curaret. Igitur Olympius, Romam
deínde in Chersonesum relegátus; ibi ob catholicam fidem ærumnis confectus,
sextodecimo Kalendas Octobris cessit e vita, clarus miraculis. Cujus corpus, Romam
póstea translátum, in ecclésia conditum est, quæ sanctórum Silvestri et Martini
nómine dedicáta erat. Præfuit Ecclésiæ annos sex, mensem unum, dies viginti sex.
Habuit ordinatiónes duas mense Decembri, quibus creávit presbyteros undecim,
diaconos quinque, episcopos per diversa loca trigínta tres.

Martin was born at Todi in Tuscany. At the beginning of his Popedom, he was careful to
send an embassage with letters to Paul, Patriarch of Constantinople, to call upon him
to return to the truth of the Catholic faith from the blasphemous heresy of the
Monothelites. But Paul, being backed up by the heretic Emperor Constans, had become so
rabid, that he sent away the messengers of the Apostolic See into diverse places in
the islands. This crime moved the Pope to gather together at Rome a council of
one-hundred-and-five Bishops, by whom Paul was condemned.
Thereupon Constans sent Olympius into Italy as Exarch, straitly commanding him either
to slay Pope Martin, or else to bring him into his Imperial presence. Olympius
therefore came to Rome and bade a lictor to kill the Pope while as he was celebrating
the Liturgy solemnly in the Cathedral Church of St Mary-at-the-Manger. But when the
lictor went thither, he was struck with blindness.
From that time forth many evils befell the Emperor Constans; but he repented not. He
sent the Exarch Theodore Calliopas to Rome, with command to lay hands on the Pope. By
him Martin was treacherously taken, brought to Constantinople, and sent to the Crimea.
There his sufferings for the Catholic faith utterly broke him down, and he left this
life for a better, famous for miracles. His body was afterwards brought back to Rome
and buried in the Church dedicated under the names of St. Silvester and St. Martin (of
Tours.) He ruled the Church for six years, one month, and twenty-six days. He held two
ordinations in the month of December, wherein he made eleven Priests, five Deacons,
and thirty-three Bishops for diverse places.

In illo témpore: Venit Jesus in partes Cæsaréæ Philíppi, et interrogábat discípulos suos,
dicens: Quem dicunt hómines esse Fílium hóminis? At illi dixérunt: Alii Joánnem Baptístam,

quem me esse dícitis? Respóndens Simon Petrus, dixit: Tu es Christus, Fílius Dei vivi.

At that time, Jesus came into the quarters of Cæsarea Philippi, and He asked His
disciples, saying, "Whom do men say that the Son of Man is?" But they said, "Some John
the Baptist, and other some Elias, and others Jeremias, or one of the prophets." Jesus
saith to them, "But whom do you say that I am?" Simon Peter answered and said, "Thou art
Christ, the Son of the living God." And Jesus answering, said to him, "Blessed art thou,
Simon Bar-Jona, because flesh and blood hath not revealed it to thee, but My Father Who
is in heaven. And I say to thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build My
Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give to thee the
keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be
bound also in heaven, and whatsoever thou shalt loose upon earth, it shall be loosed also
in heaven."

In univérsa namque Ecclésia, Tu es Christus Fílius Dei vivi, quotídie Petrus dicit;
His ítaque modis, dilectíssimi, rationábile obsequio

When the Lord, as we read in the Evangelist, asked His disciples: Who did men, amid
their diverse speculations, believe that He, the Son of Man, was; blessed Peter
answered and said: Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered
and said unto him: Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not
revealed it unto thee, but My Father, Which is in heaven: and I say also unto thee,
that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build My Church, and the gates of hell
shall not prevail against it; and I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of
heaven; and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and
whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Thus therefore
standeth the ordinance of the Truth, and blessed Peter, abiding still that firm rock
which God hath made him, hath never lost that right to rule in the Church which God
hath given unto him.
In the universal Church it is Peter that doth still say every day, Thou art the
Christ, the Son of the living God, and every tongue which confesseth that Jesus is
Lord is taught that confession by the teaching of Peter. This is the faith that
overcometh the devil and looseth the bands of his prisoners. This is the faith which
maketh men free of the world and bringeth them to heaven, and the gates of hell are
impotent to prevail against it. With such ramparts of salvation hath God fortified
this rock, that the contagion of heresy will never be able to infect it, nor idolatry
and unbelief to overcome it. This teaching it is, my dearly beloved brethren, which
maketh the keeping of this Feast to-day to be our reasonable service, even the
teaching which maketh you to know and honour in myself, lowly though I be, that Peter
who is still entrusted with the care of all other shepherds and of all the flocks to
them committed, and whose authority I have, albeit unworthy to be his heir.
When therefore, we address our exhortations to your godly ears, believe ye that ye are
hearing him speak whose office we are discharging. Yea, it is with his love for you
that we warn you, and we preach unto you no other thing than that which he taught,
entreating you that ye would gird up the loins of your mind and lead pure and sober
lives in the fear of God. My disciples dearly beloved, ye are to me, as the disciples
of the Apostle Paul were to him, a crown and a joy, if your faith, which, in the first
times of the Gospel, was spoken of throughout the whole world, abide still lovely and
holy. For, albeit it behoveth the whole Church which is spread throughout all the
world, to be strong in righteousness, you it chiefly becometh above all other peoples
to excel in worth and godliness, whose house is built upon the very crown of the Rock
of the Apostle, and whom not only hath our Lord Jesus Christ, as He hath redeemed all
men, but whom also His blessed Apostle Peter hath made the foremost object of his
teaching.
