Following the Ascensiontide fix, swept every remaining unverified Sunday/
feria precedence tier against the live reference engine:
- commemorations.ts's privileged-sunday rule was itself wrong: a
duplex-majus+ candidate was given a bare commemoration instead of
transferring, never actually verified. Live-checked the Immaculate
Conception (transfers off Advent II) and the Annunciation (transfers
off Palm/Easter Sunday) - confirmed correct by direct instruction.
privileged-sunday now transfers every rank unconditionally.
- eastertide's own Sunday tier was backwards (privileged-sunday instead
of ordinary-sunday) for the ordinary Sundays after Easter - live-
verified twice (Finding of the Holy Cross, St. Mark both win outright).
Easter Day itself still needs the stronger tier, now special-cased
directly since Sundays never consult the offset table.
Six existing tests updated to reflect real, live-verified behavior - each
had the old wrong "commemorated in place" assumption baked into its
expected value. Remaining unverified entries (Vigil of Pentecost/
Christmas, Corpus Christi/Sacred Heart) documented as such rather than
silently assumed correct.

The anchor-day and plain-temporal-fallback branches were listing any
commemorated saint before the winning identity, so a lower-ranked saint
merely riding along as a commemoration (e.g. St. Andrew on Advent I, or
Ss. Tryphon/Respicius/Nympha on an ordinary Sunday) read as if it were
the day's own winner, with the actual winner's rank label dangling at
the end with no name attached. The winner should always lead.

compline-preces.yml was already the secular Tridentine 1906/1910 text
word-for-word (verified live against both tracks), so no text change
was needed there. The actual gap: both Monastic and secular tracks drop
Compline's Preces to nothing on a Double-or-higher, unlike Vespers/Lauds
which fall back to a short form. Per explicit request, this is now a
deliberate vu-specific deviation from both tracks: on a Double, Compline
substitutes the same short Kyrie/Pater-Noster litany Vespers already
falls back to on Sundays/feasts, instead of showing nothing.

A different, wider rule than the psalm/canticle Gloria (Triduum-only):
responsories drop their Gloria for the whole of Passiontide (Passion
Sunday through Holy Saturday), except on a Sancti feast's own day —
live-verified (St. Joseph, Duplex I, 2027-03-19, landing in Passiontide
that year, keeps it; an ordinary ferial day in the same window omits it,
at both Compline and Prime).
Every responsory's stored text differs, Gloria-bearing vs Gloria-free,
by exactly one fixed-wording line, so resolve-common.ts's new
resolveResponsory filters that line out rather than requiring separate
per-season files or a data migration — mechanism first, per the
project's own stated content-authoring order. Wired into the four hours
that have a real responsory (Compline, Prime, Lauds, Vespers); Lauds/
Vespers' existing hand-authored Passiontide-proper responsories were
already Gloria-free and are unaffected.
Builds every day label as a {en, la} pair (weekdays, ranks, season/ordinal
phrasing authored in Latin; proper names without an authored Latin form
fall back to their English string) and merges the date+day-label into one
header in the day-nav bar.

At Vespers/Compline, a day's own Vigil losing tonight to tomorrow's First
Vespers was showing up as a redundant extra commemoration alongside that
same feast (e.g. Nov 29's Compline showing both "St. Andrew" and "Vigil
of St. Andrew" for Advent I's anticipated evening).
Added an explicit `vigilOf` field to each Vigil's own saint record
(several Vigil ids don't map cleanly to their feast's id by stripping a
`vigil-of-` prefix — `vigil-of-the-assumption` vs `assumption`,
`vigil-of-st-james` vs `st-james-the-greater` — so this needs to be
explicit rather than guessed from the id or date adjacency).
calendar/vespers.ts's evening-anticipation merge now skips adding the
Vigil commemoration when tomorrow's winner or its own commemorations
already include that same feast.

Rank display (added in 1fc4bd7) only fired for a plain sanctoral
winner. Every other case -- an active octave day, a named temporal
feast, a season anchor day (Easter, Trinity Sunday, Epiphany), or the
plain ordinal Sunday/feria fallback -- showed no rank at all, which is
what made today's octave day (Aug 18, day 4 of the Assumption's
octave) show no rank. Octave days use the octave's own already-computed
effective rank; anchor days get a fixed Duplex I Class (Ash Wednesday
excepted -- a privileged feria has no duplex-scale rank); the plain
fallback derives a Semiduplex/Feria label from the day's own
temporalCategory, since Sundays/ferias aren't on the duplex scale at
all.

Adds a real label under each hour's heading — "Monday in the 10th week
after Trinity", "The 1st Sunday of Advent" — computed from whichever
LiturgicalDay the hour actually resolved against, which can differ from
the nav date for Compline's evening anticipation.
calendar/day-label.ts combines two things: an ordinal week-within-season
label (pure date arithmetic on the season anchors from calendar/temporal.ts
and calendar/easter.ts — Trinity-counted, not Divinum Officium's own
Pentecost-counted convention; meant to become configurable later via the
same day->id indirection already used for the sanctoral calendar, not
hardcoded forever), and a feast name from calendar/commemorations.ts's
occurrence decision — shown alone if the feast displaces the day outright,
prefixed onto the temporal label if merely commemorated, or omitted
entirely if nothing's occurring.
Compline (and eventually Vespers) now resolves off whichever day's
identity actually governs tonight's office, not always today's — real
practice anticipates a higher-ranking tomorrow (Alma Redemptoris Mater
starting the Saturday evening before Advent I, Ave Regina Caelorum
starting the eve of Candlemas, Regina Caeli starting at the Easter
Vigil), which the previous date-only resolution missed entirely.
calendar/vespers.ts's resolveEveningDay compares today's and tomorrow's
precedence (reusing commemorations.ts's FeastClass machinery) to decide.
One deliberate absolute exception, caught by a failing test: a short,
explicit list of supreme fixed/movable feasts (Easter, Christmas,
Epiphany, Candlemas, Ascension, Corpus Christi, Sacred Heart) always wins
tomorrow's Vespers before checking whether today would otherwise keep its
own — without it, Holy Saturday's privileged-feria status incorrectly
blocked Easter's anticipation, the textbook case this whole thing exists
to get right.
hours/compline.ts now resolves its whole ordo through resolveEveningDay
instead of resolveDay.
Replaces the FeastRank placeholder with a real ordered FeastClass (the old
pre-1955 six-level scale) and a new TemporalCategory (privileged/ordinary
Sunday/feria). calendar/commemorations.ts's decideOccurrence encodes the
actual precedence rules as explicit, commented branches per category
rather than the reference engine's own opaque numeric weights — this app
targets one ruleset, so the readability trade-off is worth it. Category
membership (data/calendar/temporal-categories.yml) is a best-effort
reconstruction of the pre-1955 tradition, not sourced from a primary text;
expect corrections.
calendar/feasts.ts resolves real sanctoral candidates, and resolveDay()
wires it all together — occurring/temporalCategory are no longer stubs.
isDoubleOrHigher (hours/antiphon.ts) is now a real comparison instead of
a hardcoded false.
Seeded 7 real saints/feasts, each verified directly against Divinum
Officium's own rank data (not reconstructed from memory) as a small,
growable start: St. Lawrence, the Assumption, St. Augustine, the Nativity
of the BVM, St. Michael, All Saints, the Immaculate Conception.
Ordo is Monastic 1617 as a base, with deliberate Tridentine 1906
additions: the "In manus tuas" short responsory, the Nunc Dimittis
with its "Salva nos" antiphon, the fuller Preces (Monastic's own is
shorter), and Lent's "Christe, qui lux es et dies" hymn replacement
(English translation marked draft, pending a real historical one).
Psalms 4, 90, 133 are fixed daily with real verified text, unlike
Prime's weekday-rotated psalms.
The closing Marian antiphon now picks Alma Redemptoris Mater / Ave
Regina Caelorum / Regina Caeli / Salve Regina by real season, using
the calendar work from the previous commit — except Ave Regina
Caelorum's own window (Candlemas through the day before Maundy
Thursday) doesn't align to any single season value, so that one case
checks the real date directly instead of going through the by-season
table.
resolve-common.ts extracts the resolve/status/doxology/antiphon
helpers Prime already had into something Compline can share; a few
propers files lose their "prime-" prefix now that both hours use them.
